Quality Magazine, a leading publication for quality assurance and nondestructive testing in manufacturing, has published an article by Vibrant VP of Operations, Greg Weaver. The article, titled \u201cResonance Testing for Material Analysis,\u201d highlights the material characterization capabilities of Resonance Ultrasound Spectroscopy (RUS). Among the capabilities are determination of engineering material properties like elastic moduli and Poisson\u2019s Ratio from resonance frequencies and correlation to mechanical test data, allowing nondestructive evaluation of a part\u2019s mechanical performance.<\/p>\n
\u201cSome of the many applications are validating new alloy properties, confirming the manufacturing consistency of material properties, and estimating the \u201ceffective modulus\u201d in fatigued or porous samples,\u201d says Weaver. \u201cAfter some initial correlation studies\u2026 \u2026[resonance] frequencies can be used to predict the tensile strength of a sample.\u201d<\/p>\n
