Vibrant has been awarded a Small Business Innovation Research\n(SBIR) Phase I contract (number: FA8649-20-P-0228) to pursue Department of\nDefense applications for commercially available PCRT condition-based\nmaintenance tools for wheel and braking systems. The work, starting in\nDecember, will be performed in conjunction with Boeing and the KC-46 Rapid\nSustainment Office. The $50,000 contract was awarded by the Air Force Research\nLaboratory (AFRL) through the Defense Commercial Solutions Opening, a program\ndesigned to rapidly integrate innovative commercial technologies with defense\nneeds. The 3-month Phase I program aims to speed up the process of\ndemonstrating feasibility and quickly move into a Phase II.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis program should open the doors for PCRT within the Air Force\nas an integral part of condition-based maintenance programs,\u201d said Julie\nHeffernan, the principal investigator for the project. \u201cIt provides an\nexcellent opportunity to apply our previous success in commercial and DoD\nresearch projects to reducing costs and increasing effectiveness of the Air\nForce.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
