Application Engineer (NDT & Aerospace)
Company: Vibrant Corporation
Location: Albuquerque, NM
Employment Type: On-site / Full-time
Compensation: $75,000 – $90,000 + Benefits
Citizenship Requirement: US Citizenship is strictly required due to DoD-funded government contracts and export-controlled projects.
About the Role
Vibrant Corporation is seeking an analytical and hands-on Application Engineer to join our PCRT (Process Compensation Resonance Testing) team in Albuquerque. In this role, you will bridge the gap between complex data science and physical engineering. You will be directly responsible for analyzing resonance frequency data, implementing non-destructive testing (NDT) solutions for advanced customer components, and helping to improve the safety and reliability of critical aerospace and automotive systems.
If you thrive on data-driven decision-making, enjoy experimental design, and want to work on cutting-edge non-destructive evaluation (NDE) technologies, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Data & Analysis: Collect and analyze resonance testing data from customer components; design and perform experiments, parametric studies, and multi-variable analyses.
- Solution Deployment: Configure, implement, test, and troubleshoot resonance inspection systems both locally and at customer facilities.
- Customer Collaboration: Build strong technical relationships with clients, providing top-tier support and guiding the implementation of our NDT solutions.
- R&D Support: Research and improve hardware and methods for resonance-based NDE, including writing technical reports and proposals.
- Compliance & Quality: Comply with AS9100 quality systems and adhere to FAA Part 145 Repair Station requirements.
- Travel: Travel domestically and internationally to customer and collaborator facilities up to 30% of the time.
Baseline Requirements (Must-Haves)
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Engineering, Physics, Material Science, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
- Experience: At least 5 years of full-time professional experience in engineering, manufacturing, quality, or maintenance.
- Industry Familiarity: Direct experience working within aerospace, power generation, automotive, or similar high-consequence industries.
- Regulatory: Ability to adhere to a DoT/FAA drug and alcohol testing program.
- Communication: Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves)
- Don’t worry if you don’t have all of these—if you have experience in a few of these areas, we highly encourage you to apply:
- Experience with Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE/NDT) methods.
- Familiarity with vibrations, dynamics, and material behavior (metals, non-metals, additive manufacturing).
- Background in aircraft engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO), or aircraft wheel and brake systems.
- Proficiency with FEM software (ANSYS, COMSOL, Abaqus).
- Experience with 3D solid modeling software (Solidworks, NX, PTC Creo).
- Programming skills (Python, Matlab, C++).
- Experience creating interactive data dashboards using Power BI.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is a strong asset.
