Application Engineer

A Vibrant Application Engineer is responsible for the design, analysis, and implementation of resonance-based non-destructive evaluation (NDE) solutions for aircraft and aircraft engine components.  As a Vibrant Team Member, you will work to improve safety of flight and the efficiency of our customers in the aerospace industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect and analyze resonance testing data
  • Configure and implement resonance testing inspections for customer components
  • Support design, manufacturing and evaluation of resonance testing systems
  • Support, improve, maintain and repair testing system hardware and software at customer sites
  • Communicate with customers about operational projects and development projects
  • Research and improve technology for resonance-based NDE
  • Create Finite Element Method (FEM) simulations of component resonance responses
  • Develop and utilize new analysis methods for modeled and measured resonance testing data
  • Design and perform experiments, parametric studies and multi-variable analyses
  • Comply with the AS9100 quality system, including recommending improvements to processes and procedures
  • Write proposals to solicit project funding from various sources
  • Compose written reports for internal and external communication
  • Develop methods for storing data and building corporate knowledge and memory
  • Give presentations for internal and external audiences
  • Domestic and international travel to visit customers, present research results, solicit funding, collaborate with partners
  • Work flexibly in a small business environment

Qualifications, Requirements and Skills:

  • US Citizen (Vibrant’s work includes DoD-funded, export-controlled projects)
  • Strong analytical mindset, data-driven decision making
  • Strong understanding of resonance, dynamics, and material behavior
  • Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal skills
  • BS in Engineering, Physics, Math, Computer Science

  • Experience in manufacturing and/or maintenance facilities
  • Aerospace, power generation, or automotive industry experience
  • Proficiency in ANSYS, COMSOL, Abaqus, or other FEM software
  • Proficiency in Matlab, Python, C++, or other programming languages
  • Proficiency in Solidworks, NX, PTC Creo or other 3D solid modeling software
  • Department of Defense project experience, such as Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR), Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR), or Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) funded programs

Compensation is dependent on your qualifications, experience, and skill set.
